Rome has two airports – the more well know Rome Fiumicino for commercial flights only, and the smaller Rome Ciampino Airport.

Rome Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino (FCO/LIRF)

Rome Fiumicino Airport only accepts business aviation flights at night when the Ciampino Airport is shut. There is no separate business aviation terminal here at Fiumicino, so passengers are escorted through the main terminal from private jet to their ground transport by special handling VIP handling personnel. It is 32km/19 miles from the city centre.

Operational: 24hrs

Rome Ciampino Giovan Battista Pastine (CIA/LIRA)

Rome Ciampino was the original airport serving Rome, but reached capacity in the early 1960’s when Fiumicino was then built. It now is a hub for some low cost carriers and business aviation. It is close to the city centre – 14km/9 miles from the city centre and has a separate private business aviation terminal for smooth discreet transfers from private jet to ground transport.

Operational: 0600-2330 Local time
