Bucharest has two airports – the busiest is Henry Coanda International and the other one is Aurel Vlaicu International.

Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP/LROP)

Formerly known as Bucharest Otopeni International Airport prior to 2004, Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport t is the busiest airport in Romania. It is located in Otopeni which lies 17km/10.5 miles north of Bucharest.

Although it has two parallel runways, the airport only has a single terminal with no dedicated area for general aviation flights.

Aurel Vlaicu International Airport (BBU/LRBS)

Commonly known as Bucharest City Airport or Baneasa Airport, Aurel Vlaicu International Airport is located in Baneasa, just 8.5km/5.2 miles north of Bucharest. Although the airport still has international commercial traffic, it has become more of a business airport.

It has a dedicated general aviation terminal for charter flights.

Operational: 24hrs although aircraft weighing more than 50 tonnes are not allowed from 22.00 – 06.00 local
